Don’t Risk Losing A Client/Opportunity – Use A Contract Attorney
Utilization of contract attorneys offers a law office the opportunity to take on cases that they might otherwise have passed on because the case calls for expertise outside of the firms normal practice areas. It happens all the time! An existing client, that uses the firm for a specific type of assistance, inquires whether the firm could possibly assist the client with a matter outside their normal practice area, estate planning, for example. Through access to a reputable attorney recruiter or attorney staffing service, a law office can hire an appropriately-skilled attorney that can single handedly handle the new case, thereby avoiding the firm having to tell the client that they cannot help, or, worse yet, refer to another law office down the street, ultimately resulting in the loss of a client at some point in the future. Astute attorneys, that have previously worked with a reputable attorney staffing service (“ASS”) know, to always check to see if the ASS might possibly have an appropriately-skilled attorney that could step in and handle the case outside their normal practice area and, if so, bring that attorney on board for the temporary purpose of assisting with the handling of the particular case. Bottom line, the client is happy to not have to deal with another law office, the law office is happy because they have not jeopardized their existing business relationship with a client and, just possibly, the law office has opened the door to expanding their practice areas to include another area of law that they can offer assistance in going forward, all of which are a good thing.
